By: E&P Staff The Chicago Tribune plans to launch a retooled sports section, "Chicago Sports," on Monday, which editors openly say is aimed at matching their cross-town rivals at the Chicago Sun-Times.
A memo from Mike Kellams, Tribune associate managing editor/sports, first posted on the Poynter.org Romenesko site, says the section will have a new name, more coverage and a new Web component.
"We're as aggressive and hard charging as any and as we've ever been. We're only doing more," the memo states. "It's about time the public knows it."
