By: E&P Staff Guangdong China Sunshine Media Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of China's Guangzhou Daily newspaper media group, will install a Goss Newsliner press in November to increase color and page capacity for additional contract print work.
The 75,000-copy-per-hour shaftless doublewide press will be configured as four four-high towers with two 2:3:3 jaw folders and six reelstands. Configured to provide opportunities to produce a more diverse range of newspaper products, the press will be capable of printing 96 broadsheet pages, with 32 pages in full color, and spot color on the remaining 64 pages.
"The modular nature of the Newsliner press will give us the ability to extend the press in the future should our requirements change," Guangdong Sunshine Media Group Chairman Liang Hanhui said in a statement.
The Newsliner will join Goss presses that Guangzhou Daily has operated for more than 10 years. "The Universal presses we purchased in 2005 have met our exacting expectations for streamlined efficiency, fine color quality and high productivity," Liang said.
Established in 1996 and the first newspaper group to be authorized by the central Chinese government, Guangzhou Daily now owns seven subsidiaries and 14 publications in addition to its namesake flagship. Some are distributed worldwide. China's largest newspaper group by ad revenue, it has print centers located across China.
