Chinese Plant Gets Large and Small Goss Presses

By: E&P Staff China's Economic Daily Newspaper Group ordered a Goss Global Newsliner press to increase printing capacity at its plant in Beijing.

Xu Hai Fan, Economic Daily general secretary and head of its printing center, said in a statement that it was his company's seventh order with Goss. Growing business and capacity requirements occasioned investment in the press and in a larger printing plant for the more than three million daily broadsheet copies of The Economic Daily and 14 other titles. The plant also prints the Beijing Youth Daily, Beijing Evening News, and Xinbao News on contract.

To be configured as two four-high towers with two CT50P reelstands and one 3:2 rotary folder, the 75,000-copy-per-hour shaftless Newsliner (now also available as the 90,000-cph Global Newsliner 90) will be able to print 16 pages broadsheet or 32 pages tabloid straight, or double those numbers in collect mode.

The Economic Daily also owns two Goss Universal 70 presses, two Goss Universal 45 presses with heatset capability for semi-commercial printing, two Goss Urbanite presses, and three Goss Community presses. As part of the expansion plan, a new Goss Community press supplied by Shanghai Goss also will be installed in the new plant.
