By: E&P Staff Christopher Marquis, 43, a reporter in the Washington bureau of The New York Times, died Friday in San Francisco.
His brother, Matthew, said the cause of death was AIDS.
Marquis joined the Times in 2000 from Knight-Ridder Newspapers, where he was chief foreign affairs writer. Before that, he was a foreign correspondent for The Miami Herald. He was a Nieman fellow at Harvard in 1998 and 1999.
His novel, "A Hole in the Heart" (St. Martin's), was published in 2003, and he had taken a leave of absence several months ago to work on a second novel.
