By: Staff Reports Web Sites Partner With StartFree

The Cincinnati Enquirer and The Cincinnati Post are
offering free Internet access through their joint Web site,
Cincinnati.com. The service is offered by StartFree.com Inc., also of
Cincinnati.

The newspapers will promote the service in print.

StartFree is also offering free ISP through Cincinnati.CitySearch.com
and ChannelCincinnati.com, the Web site of WLWT Channel 5.

StartFree presents the media partner's home page as the default
starting page for users of the service. The company says this will
increase traffic to these partners.

The Dallas Morning News recently announced that it would offer
free ISP from 1stUp.com. Other Belo properties are expected to follow.
Earlier this year, E.W. Scripps properties Denver Rocky Mountain
News and The Boulder Camera signed up to offer free ISP
through 1stUp.com.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
