'Cincy Enquirer' Journalists Threatened With Arrest At Polls

Posted
By: Joe Strupp A reporter and photographer for the Cincinnati Enquirer were threatened with arrest at a local polling site today, the paper reported, after attempting to photograph a congressman as he voted.

The paper's Web site said Enquirer reporter Janice Morse and photographer Tony Jones were trying to photograph Rep. John Boehner at a Butler County polling place when they were stopped by poll workers.

"Boehner had told the media he would available for interviews this morning, but Jones and Morse were told by poll workers that they could not come into the polling place," the Web site stated in a story posted just before 11 a.m. "West Chester Township police had arrived at the church and were talking with poll workers."

The same story reported that a videographer with WCPO-TV had been challenged by poll workers at 6:30 a.m. after he shot video of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt voting in Clermont County. Bob Morford, news director, said authorities cited law regarding polling procedures. The crew member left with his video, which the station plans to use. WCPO is pursuing further legal advice."
