By: E&P Staff In yet another indication that newspapers are turning away from circulation as the principal measure of their size and reach, the International Newspaper Marketing Association (INMA) is changing the name of the Circulation Summit to The INMA Summit On Audience Development.
The new-look Summit will be held Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Miramonte Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, Calif.
"The Summit name change and theme reflect the sea-change happening at newspapers today related to audience development strategy," INMA Executive Director Earl J. Wilkinson said in a statement. "The Palm Springs Summit will confront key questions about what is happening in the market and how newspaper companies must reorganize internally to confront these market challenges."
INMA said the meeting, with the theme "The Audience Revolution: Transforming Delivery Into a Multi-Media Vehicle, " would focus on these three questions:
How are traditional circulation departments evolving in focus and direction?
How can newspaper companies repackage and refresh existing brands in order to flourish in a young, vibrant, and digital environment?
What will happen to print production once we move to digital circulation?
