Clarification About Proceeds From Cartoonist's 'Hug Time' Book

Posted
By: E&P Staff E&P Online reported Oct. 1 that a portion of the proceeds from cartoonist Patrick McDonnell's new "Hug Time" children's book will go to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

While PETA may get some money from "Hug Time" sales if people order the book online through PETA's site, McDonnell said he and publisher Little, Brown Young Readers are not donating a portion of proceeds to the animal-rights organization.

"Hug Time" is the fourth children's book for McDonnell, who does the "Mutts" comic for more than 700 newspapers via King Features Syndicate.
