'Clarion-Ledger' of Jackson, Miss., Names Larry Whitaker Publisher

By: E&P Staff Larry Whitaker, former publisher of The Times in Shreveport, La., has been named publisher of The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., reports the paper. The announcement came Friday from the parent company of the Clarion-Ledger, Gannett Co. Inc.

He will replace John. E. Newhouse II, who announced his resignation on Tuesday.

Whitaker was most recently the publisher at the Chronicle-Tribune in Marion, Ind.
