Publishing Co., whose 675 titles make it the nation's largest
classified publisher, said Tuesday that it has acquired the
assets of Exit Information Guide LLC, a publisher of hotel
discount guides. Terms weren't disclosed.
The deal "allows us to expand beyond our classified publications
into a new market," said Mitch Brooks, Trader's executive vice
president.
Exit, founded in 1982 and based in Gainsville, Fla., runs 20
editions of Traveler Discount Guides circulating 36 million
copies annually. Published four times a year, they contain
discount coupons for hotels, motels, and resorts and are
available at over 13,500 restaurants, service stations, and
welcome centers.
Trader said Exit management stays in place as a Trader division.
Based in Norfolk, Va., Trader, a partnership of Landmark
Communications Inc. and Cox Enterprises Inc., operates such
titles as Auto Trader, Harmon Homes, Apartments For Rent,
and Employment Guide, and the Web site TraderOnline.com.
