Cleveland Alternatives to Merge

By: E&P Staff Two alternative weeklies in Cleveland will merge in July as a result of a recent transaction.

Times-Shamrock Communications has purchased the Cleveland Scene from Village Voice Media and the Cleveland Free Times from Times Publishing Co. for an undisclosed sum.

On July 23, Times-Shamrock will combine the two alternatives into the Scene. Matt Fabyan, publisher of the Free Times, will become publisher of the new weekly.

With the Cleveland acquisition, Times-Shamrock will operate five alternatives weeklies in Baltimore, Detroit, San Antonio, and Orlando.
