Cleveland County, N.C. 'Star' Gives Three Editors New Roles

By: E&P Staff The Star in Cleveland County, N.C., announced changes in the roles of three editorial staffers on Saturday.

Interactive Editor Joy Scott, who works on shelbystar.com and clevelandcountykids.com, will add the title of managing editor. Now entering her seventh year at the paper, Scott will work with both print and online content.

Crime Reporter Graham Cawthon has been promoted to city editor. In his new role he will manage reporters and local content for the paper. Cawthon joined the staff in 2005.

Lifestyles Editor Emily Killian will also take on the role of design editor. Her new responsibilities include managing the copy desk and controlling the Star's overall design. Killian has served as general assignment editor, copy editor, and news editor since joining the newsroom in 2003.
