By: E&P Staff Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI) has sold The Titusville (Pa.) Herald to its former publisher, the newspaper disclosed Tuesday.

The paper said the sale to Michael Sample, a Titusville resident who was publisher of the paper from 1994 to 2000, was completed last Friday.

?I greatly appreciate CNHI?s willingness to part with The Herald,? Sample said in the article. ?My wife, Debbie and our children, Sydney and John George, spent nine wonderful years as part of Titusville and have been looking for the opportunity to be part of the community again. Purchasing The Herald is the opportunity that will allow us to do so.?

Birmingham, Ala.-based CNHI, which also publishes the nearby Meadville (Pa.) Tribune, had owned the Herald for the past six years.

The a.m. Herald has a sworn circulation of 4,065, according to the Editor & Publisher International Year Book.
