CNP Promotes Two Operations Execs

By: E&P Staff David Bauer was named senior vice president of operations for the California Newspapers Partnership/Bay Area News Group Wednesday by CNP President and CEO George Riggs.

Bauer, 59, replaces Dennis Miller, who recently retired. In his new role, Bauer will be responsible for production and information technology for the company. Since 2005, Bauer has served in a similar capacity at the San Jose Mercury News, which he joined in 2001 as technology vice president.

Mercury News Operations Director Joe Boessenecker, 47, is being promoted to production director for CNP/Bay Area News Group, reporting to Bauer. Boessenecker has served in various operations and production roles at the Mercury News for the past eight years and for 22 years prior to that at the Contra Costa Times, Walnut Creek, Calif.

Owned by MediaNews Group, Gannett and Stephens Media, CNP's 34 dailies have a combined daily circulation of more than 900,000. It also publishes 57 California weeklies.
