Colo. Mountain Acquires 'Vail Trail'

By: E&P Staff Colorado Mountain News Media, publisher of the Vail Daily, has acquired The Vail Trail from Knox Publishing.

Laura Chiappetta has been named publisher of The Vail Trail. The weekly, with a circulation of 11,000, will be part of the Vail Daily group of newspapers, but will be operated independent of the daily, the company said in a statement.

"Bringing The Vail Trail into our family of papers reflects our commitment to community journalism," said Robert Brown, general manager of Colorado Mountain News Media. "Our intention is to preserve and strengthen a valuable community asset."

The transaction was announced last week.
