By: E&P Staff The Columbus (Neb.) Telegram will be printed and packaged at the Fremont Tribune, beginning on March 16, Telegram Publisher Bob Blackman said yesterday.
Both newspapers are owned by Lee Enterprises. For the 8,694-circulation Telegram to continue printing on its Harris press, which is almost 50 years old, it would have to invest in "significant repairs and modifications," according to the Telegram.
The newer press in Fremont offers color in more positions and at better quality, according to Blackman. It also will print the Telegram at a narrower width.
Eleven full- and part-time Telegram employees will lose their jobs, according to the newspaper.
