Columnist E.R. Shipp Installed as Hofstra Professor

By: E&P Staff Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Daily News columnist E.R. Shipp has become the Lawrence Stessin Distinguished Professor of Journalism at Hofstra University.

Shipp became a Daily News columnist in 1994 and won the Pulitzer two years later for her commentary on race, welfare, and other social issues. The Georgia-born journalist previously worked as a reporter and editor for The New York Times from 1980 to 1993.

Stessin was also a New York Times reporter, as well as labor editor for Forbes Magazine and a professor at the Hempstead, N.Y.-based Hofstra.
