Columnist Geo Beach Hosting TV Series About Alaska

By: E&P Staff A weekly documentary series called "Tougher in Alaska" will begin May 8 on the History Channel.

It's hosted by Alaska-based columnist Geo Beach, who began working on the project in October 2006. "I collected some terrific stories canvassing Alaska," he told E&P.

Beach, who grew up in New England, has lived in Alaska for about 25 years. He won a 2007 best-columnist award from the Alaska Press Club for his "Top O'th Planet" pieces in the Anchorage Daily News.

In addition, Beach has been a radio commentator, logger, firefighter, medic, and commercial fisherman.
