Columnist's Survey of Columnists Looks at Job Retention

Posted
By: E&P Staff An e-mail survey conducted by Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Dave Lieber found that 39 of 47 columnists writing a column in 2005 still write one in 2008.

Lieber contacted 110 columnists who had attended the National Society of Newspaper Columnists (NSNC) conference he hosted three years ago in Grapevine, Texas -- and 47 responded. Of the eight no longer writing a column, several had retired (as opposed to having been laid off).

For more on Lieber's survey, including comments from some of the respondents, see this article on the NSNC Web site.
