Comet Sends Color Across the Caucasus

By: E&P Staff A KBA Comet press line is scheduled to go into production this summer at The State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan Republic, in Baku,where it will print full color (up to 64 full-color tabloid pages) in many of the Transcaucasian country's dailies.

The singlewide, two-around press will comprise four four-high towers with automatic ink pumping, two jaw folders and four Megtec AR70A reelstands with a KBA Patras M reel-handling system.

The floor-mounted 75,000-copy-per-hour Comet will have a 22.75-inch cut-off on a web that will be variable in width from 27.5 to 39.5 inches, with 33 inches as the standard. Above the 2:3:3 KF 3B folders there will be two superstructures with a single former.

The press will be controlled from two KBA consoles with a diagnostics PC for remote maintenance. Press crews are to be provided with complete training.
