Comic Takes a 'Future Shock' Look at Layoffs

Posted
By: E&P Staff Wiley Miller took a strong swipe at newspaper layoffs in his Tuesday "Non Sequitur" comic.

The cartoon shows an executive at "The Trib" asking a staffer: "How's that piece on the booming economy coming along?" The overwhelmed staffer is pictured in a newsroom that's deserted because of layoffs. Next to his desk are signs indicating all the departments the staffer is now responsible for: "City Desk." "Capital Bureau." "International Wire Desk." "Business." "Features." "Editorial." "Sports."

Miller's caption: "Your News Media at Work."

"Non Sequitur" appears in more than 700 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
