Britain's Competition Commission says it has cleared all three competing bids for publisher
Newscom, according to Reuters. The three bidders are Gannett Co. Inc., Johnston Press Plc,
and Trinity Mirror Plc. Newscom publishes the Southampton Daily Echo and other newspapers in
southern England.
Gannett, the largest newspaper company in the U.S., bought U.K. publisher Newsquest last
year.
