By: Dave Astor Andrews McMeel Publishing (AMP) will publish a collection of every "Far Side" comic that appeared during Gary Larson's 1980-1995 syndication run.
The 1,250-page, 18-pound, two-hardcover-volume set -- tentatively titled "The Complete Far Side" -- also will include new art and essays by Larson, as well as material from his personal scrapbooks. It's slated for a fall 2002 release.
AMP's previous 22 "Far Side" collections have sold more than 40 million copies since 1982.
"The Far Side" had 1,900-plus newspaper clients when it ended.

AccuWeather Inc. has entered into an agreement with TheOne Technology Group to translate its content into 10 languages, and also made a deal to provide its content to the Orbitz travel Web site created by major airlines.
In addition, AccuWeather.com has launched an online health service, teamed up with Yahoo! to offer an interactive radio show streamed live via the Internet, unveiled its localized "Metro Radar," opened regional offices in Atlanta and San Francisco, and made a deal with Weather Forecast to provide a national network of robotically controlled Web cameras to show weather live as it happens.

N.Y.-Based Syn Moves After 86 Years
After spending its first 86 years on Manhattan's E. 45th St., King Features Syndicate has moved to the West Side.
King's new address is 888 Seventh Ave., New York, NY 10019 -- not far from the offices of its owner, the Hearst Corp.

'ESCRITO' Y 'TIEMPO' OFFERED
Syndicated Spanish-Language Pages
Two syndicates are distributing Spanish-language pages.
The New York Times Syndicate is offering the daily "Escrito," which includes content on technology, relationships, food, fashion, teens, and other topics. The paginated page -- illustrated with color photos and graphics -- is created by Ediciones Periodisticas of Monterey, Mexico.
And United Media is syndicating a weekly illustrated page containing news, historical items, and more. "Pasa ... Tiempo" is by Armando Caicedo, a Maryland-based journalist of Colombian descent.

A weekly Q-and-A column called "Dear Pharmacist" is being syndicated by Tribune Media Services.
It's by Suzy Cohen, who discusses prescribed and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, herbal supplements, alternative remedies, and nutrition.

ALTERNET.ORG EXPANDS
The Site Also Gets Redesigned
AlterNet.org has expanded and redesigned its Web site, which now includes areas focusing on media, globalization, human rights, the drug war, and health and the environment.
Also, a new Web crawler helps visitors search AlterNet.org's database of more than 7,000 stories and various other progressive sites. And new message boards are being launched.
Its online traffic has increased significantly since January, according to AlterNet.org, which said visitors are seeking alternatives to the conservative views of the Bush administration.
AlterNet.org is part of the Independent Media Institute, which includes a syndication arm with 150 weekly newspaper and Web customers.

Psychologist Writes the Column
Dr. Wayne Fleisig is self-syndicating "Healthy Minds," a column on topics such as family and work that began last year in the Birmingham (Ala.) Post-Herald. It runs in about half a dozen papers.
The New York native (wfleisig@hotmail.com) is a clinical psychologist and TV personality in Birmingham.

At Large Features Syndicate is offering the "Conservatively Speaking" column by former Los Angeles Times investigative reporter Mark Landbaum and a liberal political column by Skip Kaltenheuser, whose work has appeared in such papers as the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
The syndicate also signed the "Oddly Enough" cartoon panel by Russ Miller.
