John Winn Miller has been appointed publisher of the Concord (N.H.) Monitor.

Miller, 57, is an award-winning journalist who has served as publisher of The Olympian in Olympia, Wash., and was senior vice president of the Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat, where he was in charge of production, technology, advertising and circulation.

Miller started as a reporter for the Associated Press, for which he served as Rome correspondent for four years and was given special assignments in Beirut, Libya, India, Ethiopia and Bulgaria. He then worked as a reporter, capital bureau chief and city editor for the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader before he was named executive editor of the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa., and the Tallahassee Democrat.

Miller succeeds Geordie Wilson, who in May was named vice president of online strategy for the Monitor's parent company, Newspapers of New England Inc. Wilson will lead NNE’s online offerings at its four daily and three weekly newspapers.
