By: Greg Mitchell Sarah Chubb, president of CondeNet, was awarded the 2007 Individual Achievement Award this morning at the E&P/Mediaweek Interactive Media Conference in Miami.
Chubb has been an innovator online since starting on the online side at CondeNet in January 1996, just months after the company launched its first full Web site, Epicurious. It has gone on to produce such well-known destinations as style.com, concierge.com, and, more recently, reddit.
In her keynote address that launched the conference, Chubb joked that when she moved to CondeNet she was one of the first at the operation to have e-mail -- but "it wasn't very useful, because hardly anyone else did."
She said the through the use of video, RSS and podcasting, and more, CondeNet has "tried to stay a little ahead of what the consumer wants."
She now manages eight "destination sites," and she offered an in-depth case study involving one of the newest ones, Flip, for teen girls.
