By: E&P Staff The Conference Board reported that online advertised vacancies fell 1.9% in June compared to May, continuing a trend of stabilization.
"We are not out of the woods yet, but job demand has definitely stabilized since January," Gad Levanon, senior economist at the Conference Board, said in a statement. "Although there is some bounce in the monthly numbers, the number of online advertised vacancies has held steady in the last three months."
The organization said that the hard-hit state of Florida is showing some modest gains. New York and North Carolina are holding steady, while California and Pennsylvania are still showing job weakness.
The Conference Board Help Wanted Online Data Series shows that in the 20 most populous states, unemployed people outnumber jobs from a range of 2 to 1 in Maryland for example, to a range of 10 to 1 in Michigan.
