By: Gov. M. Jodi Rell says Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun's loud tirade over the weekend against a freelance journalist and political activist was an "embarrassing display."
Speaking to reporters in New Haven, Rell says that she believes Calhoun would welcome "a do-over and not have that embarrassing display" when he shouted at Ken Krayeske at a post-game news conference.
Calhoun took exception following UConn's victory Saturday over South Florida when Krayeske asked if Calhoun should give back part of his $1.6 million salary while the state has a deficit.
"My best advice to you is, shut up," Calhoun said, before shouting, "Get some facts and come back and see me."
Calhoun is the state's highest-paid employee. A call was left with the university seeking comment.
