By: E&P Staff Two centenarians are winners of the "Wonderword Puzzle Oldest Player Contest," according to "Wonderword" distributor Universal Press Syndicate.
They are 103-year-old Georgianna Pierini of East Greenwich, R.I., and 100-year-old Eliza Ammerall of Amsterdam, N.Y. "Wonderword," said Pierini, "gives me something to do and keeps my mind sharp."
Also, five-year-old Zachary Myrtle of Rhode Island is the youngest player of the word-search puzzle.
The contest attracted about 1,000 entries from the United States, Canada, Vietnam, and India.
Universal has syndicated "Wonderword" -- done by Sophie and David Ouellet -- for more than 25 years. The feature appears in 200-plus newspapers.
