The
New York Times was partly responsible for taking down “60 Minutes” in November after its botched Benghazi segment, but it also could have saved the program had the
Times run its exhaustive new report on the attacks in Benghazi when it was first ready this summer.
The author of the report published Saturday,
New York Times' Cairo Bureau Chief David Kirkpatrick, said on Twitter that the article was ready around June 30, but due to “internal log jams too complicated to explain,” the story was held up, but the “editors felt it had to run this year—so it got in just under the wire.”
