By: E&P Staff Bill O'Reilly, the Fox News host who also writes a Creators Syndicate column, erroneously stated that "no far-right person in this country is going to get on the cover of Time."
MediaMatters.org noted that O'Reilly made the remark on his May 22 "Radio Factor" show in response to Time's May 29-issue cover featuring the Dixie Chicks, a band O'Reilly described as "far left." (Its lead singer has criticized George W. Bush.) But the magazine's April 25, 2005, cover featured Universal Press Syndicate columnist Ann Coulter, who is considered "far right" by many observers.
O'Reilly even mentioned Coulter on his May 22 show, but did not mention that she had been a Time cover subject.
MediaMatters.org also said Time did a Feb. 7, 2005, cover story about America's 25 most influential evangelicals. One of the 25 was conservative Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, another Universal columnist.
