By: Dave Astor The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear a lawsuit filed by a woman who says the makers of Skippy peanut butter stole the name from her late father's comic strip, according to an Associated Press story.
Joan Crosby Tibbetts, the 71-year-old daughter of "Skippy" creator Percy Crosby, said she will continue her fight against Unilever. "This case involves a very important principle -- 'thou shalt not steal.' If this case is allowed to disappear, and they succeed in shutting me up, who has won? These big corporations that believe they can just wear others down," said Tibbetts, who began her crusade in 1965 -- the year after her father died.
Unilever, reported AP, says Tibbetts' claim has no merit.
