A few weeks before Thanksgiving in 2015, a group of students at the University of Missouri began occupying a large quad on the school’s campus. The students, who called themselves “Concerned Student 1950,” referring to the first time black students were admitted to the university, were protesting what they viewed as an administration that consistently ignored complaints of on-campus racism.
