"I've spent my life in Waco and recognize the importance of the Waco Tribune-Herald," Clifton Robinson, chairman and CEO of Robinson, said in a statement. "The paper is vital to this community, and I'm thrilled to be part of such an important organization.
Cox said that executives at the Daily Sentinel based in Grand Junction would remain at the paper while Jay Seaton an executive with Grand Junction Media will join the Daily Sentinel.
"Seaton Publishing has nearly two centuries of experience publishing newspapers and serving advertisers," Doug Franklin, executive vice president at Cox Newspapers, said in a statement. "Under its leadership, we are confident that The Daily Sentinel and The Nickel will continue to be vital within Grand Junction."
Cox is still seeking buyers for its other newspapers in North Carolina and Texas including the Austin American-Statesman. The company put the properties on the block in 2008 and retained Dirks, Van Essen & Murray to assist with the sales.
