Simon -- winner of more than 35 first-place journalism awards -- has been a reporter and columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, a columnist for The Sun of Baltimore, a White House correspondent for the Chicago Tribune, a political correspondent and editor for U.S. News & World Report, and a political correspondent for Bloomberg News.
The Chicago native has also authored several books, including "Divided We Stand" (about the 2000 presidential race).
Simon was inducted into the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame in 1999.
