Posted
By: E&P Staff The Chicago edition of the Spanish-language daily Hoy and the local Telemundo TV station are partnering with the Chicago Cubs to produce weekly exclusive interviews in Spanish with players.

Hoy and the Cubs are both owned by Tribune Co., which has said it will sell the ball club at the end of this season.

The interview series is called "Conoce a Tus Cubs" or "Get to know your Cubs," Telemundo newscasts run an interview with a player every Wednesday, and Hoy publishes an interview every Thursday.

The arrangement is part of the launch of the team's new Spanish-language Web site, www.loscubs.com, which will webcast the interviews.

Interviews will focus on the athlete's interests outside of the game, the three organizations said.

"This unique content-sharing opportunity allows us to feed the insatiable appetite Chicago's Spanish-speaking baseball fans have for more information about their favorite players," Hoy General Manager Julian Posada said in a statement.

Jay Blunk, the Cubs' director of marketing, said "partnering with two of Chicago's most influential Spanish-language media outlets furthers our efforts to reach this vital community of Cubs followers."
