By: E&P Staff A comic about the life of a pre-school girl named Alice Otterloop will begin syndication in September, Universal Press Syndicate announced today.
Richard Thompson has been creating "Cul de Sac" for The Washington Post for three years. The award-winning cartoonist has also done the weekly "Richard's Poor Almanac" for the Post the past 10 years.
Retired "Calvin and Hobbes" creator Bill Watterson, who rarely makes public statements, said Thompson "has a sharp eye, a fun sense of language, and a charmingly odd take on the world. Best of all, his drawings are wonderful -- something one doesn't often see in cartoons anymore."
