By: E&P Staff Alan Gardner's Web site The Daily Cartoonist, in an effort to feature even more news from the professional-cartoonist realm, is looking for a few good posters.
After registering for an account on the blog, users will now be able to submit news stories, book reviews, and discussion topics, and can post comments on others? work. All stories will be reviewed before they are posted. To register, go

?Up until now, the topics of the blog have been based on what I find interesting and more often than not what I have time to post,? Gardner writes on the site. ?I have lamented that many worthwhile stories aren?t getting noticed because of my limited time. To remedy this and be more inclusive to other cartooning professions that haven?t been well represented here (magazine cartoons, animation, webcomics, greeting cards, illustrators and others), I am opening up the blog to you all -- The Daily Cartoonist community.?
The names of the blog?s contributors will be listed on the homepage, with accompanying bios and lists of their posts.
Gardner, however, will continue to post news items. ?It will take time to get the community fully self-sufficient, but due to other projects that I will be taking on in the near future, my blogging will be limited to a couple of news stories a day,? he writes in a Q&A on the site.
?I?ve known for about a year that TDC was maturing beyond what I could provide single-handedly,? he adds. ?The newspaper cartoonists and their fans have a great community here and I?ve always wanted to expand the audience and create that type of community for every form of cartooning, but have lack the time to adequately cover those topics. Having others contribute allows more opportunity for those neglected art forms to be covered.?
