'Daily Iowegian' to Use CommunitySportsDesk Platform

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Community Sports Network picked up another affiliate Monday when it was announced that the Daily Iowegian of Centerville, Iowa, would be the newest paper to use the CommunitySportsDesk (CSD) platform to collect, organize and present community sports-and-recreation content for online and print products.

The Iowegian will be the first Community Newspaper Holdings paper to use the CSD platform, which began in Kenosha, Wis., to improve the coverage of youth and recreational sports in the Kenosha News.

"Kids and adults are spending their time passionately engaged in sports and recreation, and we believe CSD can be a tool to 'catch our community at play,'" Iowegian Publisher Becky Maxwell said in a statement. The Iowegian plans to have CSD provide coverage of youth sports in Centerville and in the neighboring towns of Moravia and Seymour in Iowa and Unionville in Missouri under the brand name of Appanoose Community Sports.

"Coached by the CSD software, trusted team representatives can work in a uniform way and provide content that we couldn?t otherwise reach," Iowegian Sports Editor Julie Clark stated. "The result is an online site that stays fresh and keeps the community engaged."
