The
Columbia (Mo.)
Daily Tribune on Sunday launched Neighborhoods, a free site that aggregates data from a variety of public and private sources and presents it on a map.
The new site is built on the OpenBlock platform, the open-source software application developed with grant funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Partners in the OpenBlock project, announced in 2010, are the
Tribune, The Boston Globe and Open Plans, a New York-based software development company.
The Tribune site is the first large-scale OpenBlock deployment in the country. OpenBlock grew out of a previous Knight-funded project, EveryBlock.com.
