By: Dave Astor Wilson Casey's daily "TrivGuy," which runs in 56 newspapers, turns five this September.
The self-syndicated feature (
www.TriviaGuy.com) offers six items a day, 365 days a year, although clients can use fewer than six to save space.
"Newspapers like to inform and entertain," Casey told E&P. "That's exactly what I supply."
Some of his recent items: "Who was the only 20th-century president to have two first ladies?" (Woodrow Wilson) "Who smacked the first home run in Atlanta Braves franchise history?" (Joe Torre) "What was the first name of William Shakespeare's father?" (John).
In addition to his newspaper feature, the South Carolina-based Casey does speaking engagements and "trivia/comedy gigs." The former Copley News Service contributor also did radio trivia shows for 22 years. Casey holds two trivia-related Guinness World Records.
