By: E&P Staff The Dallas Morning News is powering local search on its news site, www.dallasnews.com, with Local Connect, the private-label local search solution from Local.com Corp. in Irvine, Calif.
The recently launched free service directory includes more than 250,000 Dallas/Fort Worth-area businesses in various categories, such as automotive, professional and home services, entertainment and dining, and it will feature consumer reviews.
"Powered by Local.com, our service directory will connect consumers to the right businesses for the job," Fran Wills, senior vice president for interactive and marketing, said in a statement. "At the same time, it will create opportunities for small and medium-size businesses to reach customers effectively and affordably."
Local Connect allows qualified regional publishers to add a local search business directory to their Web sites within a few days and at no cost. The SEO-friendly architecture can quickly drive new traffic and new online advertising revenues through local search, according to Local.com, which claims the largest network of independent, private-label local media properties in the U.S., based on the number of partner sites.
The A.H. Belo Corp. flagship is the group's second daily to partner with Local.com. In spring, The Press Enterprise, Riverside, Calif., selected Local Connect to power local search on www.pe.com.
