Congratulations to The Dallas Morning News, which turns 125 years old today. On this date in 1885, the paper notes, the first copy of the very first edition was produced — and snatched by a bartender who quickly made off with it.
So began a legacy that continues more than a century later.
The News’ Website today offers an exhaustive look at the newspaper’s history, from its beginnings under the leadership of George Bannerman Dealey to its quest to maintain its influence in a new-media world, under the leadership of Publisher/CEO Jim Moroney.
Included are stories, photo galleries, historical perspectives and more about the News through the years, even audio of the triumphant Dallas Morning News March, performed by the Advocate Brass Band.
