The Dallas Morning News and other Belo media properties are offering free Internet access through
an agreement with 1stUp.com Corp.

Belo's Internet subsidiary, Belo Interactive Inc., announced the deal late Wednesday.

Interactive said consumers in the United States or Canada can now download at no charge from the
Web sites of The Dallas Morning News (dallasnews.com) or WFAA-TV (wfaa.com) an Internet application
for free and unlimited Internet access. The application will be available on other Belo sites by
early July, the company said.

Free access is offered in exchange for keeping 1stUp.com's movable navigation bar on screen during
free online sessions. The bar shows ads as well as links to Belo and other sites. 1stUp.com is a
provider of sponsor-supported Internet access solutions and a majority-owned operating company of
CMGI Inc.

'Belo Interactive is committed to creating lifetime customers in local markets by empowering them
to access a world of possibilities at every moment through the power of new media,' said Jim
Moroney, president of Belo Interactive. '1stUp.com helps us fulfill that mission because their

network is the largest in North America, based on total dial-up numbers, and it delivers reliable
Internet access to over 95% of the U.S. and Canada.'

In addition to the flagship Morning News, Belo publishes seven daily newspapers, including The
Providence (R.I) Journal and The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif. Belo's television group
consists of 18 stations reaching 14% of U.S. television households.

Earlier this year, E.W. Scripps properties Denver Rocky Mountain News and The Boulder Camera signed
up to offer free ISP through 1stUp.com.
