Dana Priest, Anne Hull, and Signe Wilkinson Among RFK Winners

By: E&P Staff Dana Priest and Anne Hull of The Washington Post were the grand-prize winners in the 40th Annual Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards announced Thursday.

They won for their investigative coverage of the awful conditions at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Judges wrote that Priest and Hull "demonstrated courage and conviction in their intrepid and unflinching reporting on powerful institutions like the U.S. Army and the Defense Department."

Among the other RFK winners were Signe Wilkinson of The Philadelphia Daily News and the Washington Post Writers Group (editorial cartooning category), Robyn Dixon of the Los Angeles Times (international print reporting), Mona Reeder of The Dallas Morning News (domestic photography), and Mary F. Calvert of The Washington Times (international photography).

Priest and Hull also won for domestic print reporting.

The RFK winners will be honored May 27 at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
