By: Changing your enemies, their hearts and their minds, is the sweetest form of revenge, the father of slain journalist Daniel Pearl says.
Doctor Judea Pearl says "Hatred killed our son, and hatred we will fight for the rest of our lives, with vengeance and tenacity."
He was speaking Sunday in Shreveport, to an audience gathered for a benefit for the Hadassah Medical Organization.
Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan six years ago. His father said he made clear his views on what he wants to come out of that, in an open letter to the people of Pakistan. In it, he said, he could think of no greater consolation than to see Pakistani children point at Daniel Pearl's picture and see a person they want to be like.
Pearl says he has been changed, too, through his work with the Daniel Pearl Foundation to bring Islamic journalists to the United States to learn how to work in and through a free press, and to inspire people through music and conversation.
