By: E&P Staff The University of Mississippi -- site of the first presidential debate Sept. 26 -- hired cartoonist Daryl Cagle to do an illustration for the event.

His cartoon of Barack Obama and John McCain is on the "Ole Miss Alumni Review" cover, which can be seen here.

Writing today in his blog, Cagle said the cartoon "will be used for other stuff associated with the debate, too, probably the programs or a poster or something."

The art will also be on the cover of the "Big Book of Campaign 2008 Cartoons," which Que/Pearson Education is scheduled to release next month. Currently, some Sarah Palin cartoons are being put in the collection at the last minute.

Cagle is founder of the Cagle.MSNBC.com cartoon site and the Cagle Cartoons syndicate.
