David Ng Named Exec. Editor of NY 'Daily News'

By: E&P Staff David Ng has been appointed executive editor of the Daily News in New York. The paper also announced today that Bob Sapio has been promoted to senior executive editor.

"I am delighted to welcome David back to his spiritual home as a key member of the team that is going to lead the Daily News into the future," Martin Dunn, editor in chief of the Daily News, said in a statement. "David is one of the most energetic journalists I have ever worked with, and his ideas and enthusiasm will be absolutely crucial during a period of significant innovation. I am delighted that he has decided to return."

Most recently, Ng was assistant managing editor at The Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J. Ng first worked for the Daily News from 1993 to 2000, holding various top editing jobs including metropolitan editor and deputy managing editor. He started his newspaper career at the New York Post, working his way from reporter to associate managing editor over a 13-year period.

"I'm thrilled to be returning to Daily News. As a kid who grew up on the Lower East Side and the Bronx, and as someone who now lives on Staten Island, the Daily News is my hometown newspaper," said Ng.
