David Offer, Executive Editor of 2 Maine Newspapers, to Retire

By: E&P Staff David B. Offer, executive editor of the Kennebec Journal in Augusta, Maine and the Morning Sentinel in Waterville, Maine, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the year.

Offer has been the executive editor of the two papers for five years and has spent 41 years in journalism, working at a range of publications across the country.

In 1966 he began his career as a reporter for the Wenatchee (Wash.) Daily World and moved a year later to the Hartford (Conn.) Courant where he received a $10,000 fellowship for distinguished reporting of public affairs from the American Political Science Association. With the fellowship, Offer earned a master?s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkley in 1972.

Since then, Offer has held positions at The Milwaukee Journal, The La Crosse (Wis.) Tribune, The Newport (R.I.) Daily News, and the Pentagon-owned Stars and Stripes.
