Deadline for Knight News Challenge Approaches

By: E&P Staff The deadline for the Knight News Challenge, which this year will award up to $5 million to digital news innovators, closes to all applications this Saturday, Nov. 1, at midnight Pacific Time.

Winning entries must use or create digital, open-source technology; use news and information to serve the public interest; benefit at least one specific geographic community; and be innovative.

Those who have created a project in the Garage (http://garage.newschallenge.org), must still submitsubmit an application officially, via the "Apply Now" link at the top of the News Challenge site at www.newschallenge.org.
