'DeFlocked' Cartoonist Helping With Event That Will Focus on Cruelty to Circus Animals

By: E&P Staff Jeff Corriveau, who does the May 2008-launched "DeFlocked" comic for King Features Syndicate, is lending his support to "The 2nd Annual Circus Show & Other Atrocities" in Sacramento.

The California-based cartoonist has donated an original piece of "DeFlocked" art that will be auctioned on Sept. 13.

Also participating, as E&P reported Aug. 19, is "Bizarro" cartoonist Dan Piraro of King. He'll perform at the Sacramento event, which focuses on cruelty to circus animals.

There's also a gallery show running through Oct. 11.

The "DeFlocked" humor strip stars an inter-species group of four outcasts who live on a farm. They include a cynical sheep named Mamet, a sensible dog named Cobb, an optimistic dog named Rupert, and an eight-year-old boy named Tucker who the brother canines have raised since babyhood.

Corriveau is a Hollywood comedy writer who has contributed to "Saturday Night Live" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and served as co-head writer of the Emmy-winning "Talk Soup."
